An abandoned book
* it is not my creative book I made, a project for conserve our memory.
So, now I ll tell you a story about an abandoned old book written in Latin and printed in 1855. One day a french lady contacted me to ask if I knew someone who could restore this book. So I met some people who were capable of doing that but it was refused each time. This was because a) It's didn't merite being restored as it was for neither old nor rare. And b) It was too damaged to repair, so it would also be too expensive to restore! Whatsmore, it had some mold so it wasn't allowed to be carry in a public archive or library, according to french law. When I explained all this to her, she was very disappointed. Surprisingly, she asked if I could restore it. I answered I coudn't of course, as I had to be very careful because I had no experience at that time. But, finally, it became the old book I cared for. This is because she touched my heart, and this made me very courageous. She said to me "I know this book is unattractive now. but it was special at least for someone in the past." At the begining, I wanted to do something to clean it up. But under M Gauthrot's directions (professor of the art school in Strasbourg), I changed even the leather cover and the binding.
This book came back home finally, and is conserved at The Reilhanette church.
